Ecstasy (MDMA)    
What does it look like?
Ecstasy comes in a tablet form that is often branded, eg, bunnies, swoosh, ck, etc.
 
What is it?
3-4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, to give it it`s real name, is a synthetic neurotoxic drug with amphetamine-like and hallucinogenic properties

Street names
xtc, x, e, bean, adam, pills, doves,

Short term effects
These include (but are not limited to):- Psychological difficulties including confusion, depression,sleep problems, drug craving, severe anxiety and paranoia during and somtimes weeks after taking ecstasy. Physical symptoms including muscle tension, involuntary teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, rapid eye movement, faintness, chills and sweatiing.

Long term effects
Recent research links Ecstasy with long-term damage to the parts of the brain critical to thought and memory processes. Chronic use of Ecstasy was found to produce long lasting and perhaps permanent damage to the brain`s neurons which produce and release serotonin and consequentially result in memory impairment.

The Law
Ecstasy is classified as a "CLASS A" drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Detection
