Benzodiazepines    
What does it look like?
They normaly come in a tablet or capsule form but are also available as an injection or an oral concentrate. Probably the most widly known is Diazepam (better known by its trade name of Valium)
 
What is it?
Benzodiazepines are a group of Psychoactive (mood altering) drugs frequently prescribed for anxiety problems (Anzolytics) and sleep disorders (Hypnotics) and anticonvulsants.

Street names
Downers, benzos, tranks,

Short term effects
Relief of tension and anxiety, drowsiness, driving and co-ordination impairment

Long term effects
Hangover, increase or decrease the effectiveness of other drugs, especially dangerous with alcohol, destroys blood cells, jaundice, coma, death

The Law
Benzodiazepines are classified as a "CLASS C " drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act

Detection
